hey what's up john, just came back to check up and see if there were any new posts but i guess not huh? damn, well we all know that if Yao were to get to the 2nd round of the playoffs you'd probably not be able to contain yourself and write something.. haha so i guess ill see you back here in May.

congrats on doing something quite amazing. you have documented in painstaking detail every game of Yao Mings first 6 1/2 years in the NBA. Quite simply something that is unique to our times and unlikely to happen again. (I believe there is anyone out there documenting every single game in this level of detail) you should at least look into Guiness book of records- there maybe a unique position for YaoMingMania.com ;).

thank you for doing it. I'm definitely not alone in saying this. I've come here to get the latest Yao info in new york, the uk, and now in China. really can't get his kind of covereage anywhere else (not espn.com, not chron.com nowhere). Great stuff.

Ad revenues for online is a tough model to build off of. Perhap there are others you can consider?

no john dont leave! i was thinking about you and your website today on my way to work! man this is too sad and too tragic! shoot i understand you have your own things to do though. you took us on a wild ride, the first chinese nba all star ever so as disappointed as i am this year and as hard as i always am on yao, it was a great experience for all of us coming together with so much love and criticism, but in the end, support. i'll keep checking back for the next few months regardless. i enjoy looking back on the many articles and posts about yao as well

Hey John, sad to hear this, but totally understandable. It's a tough decision I'm sure, but the right one for now.

I've been a visitor to this site for a few years (can't believe it's already been 5 years since I first joined). It's hard even just making decent posts to the forum -- let alone the unbelievably in-depth, high-quality posts you've been making. Your posts provide what I think is some of the best coverage and analysis of Yao or the Rockets anywhere -- both on the internet and in the traditional mainstream media.

It's been quite a labor of love, but sadly in this world, that's not enough -- and you have to look after your personal financial self-interest, as well as health.

As so many have already said, we're grateful for all you've done over the years, and wish you the best of luck in the future. Smart, thoughtful, enterprising, passionate people like you will always do well.

One of my favorite sports websites. WOuld always come here knowing the site would be up to date with recent game posts...unlike other websites (not saying any names) Understandable that you have to deal with your personal issues but your blogs will be missed.

I can't find any other website more entertaining than your site as Yao's fan. You have done a great great job to run this blog. Thanks for sharing and being a true Yao Ming super fan.
I can't believe that Yao's management team don't listen to you. I feel sad for Yao Ming. He just lost the best fan base website to support him. Who would follow more closely to him? Who would have more photos and comments post since he jointed the NBA?

Is there another way to reach Yao Ming himself for help? I want to email him to tell him about your situation. Yao should give back something his fans want. At least, to keep this blog running is not something he cannot afford.

If this blog is terminated for the financial reason, I am not only feeling sad but would lose faith in Yao. seriously, think about it. Like John, a truely big icon Yao fan cannot find the support of his idol. What is the point that we still support Yao Ming? Yao, you have to wake up and Must Do something to keep your loyal fans happy!!

Sadly, I'm not. Chinese people seem to not understand anything about the importance of good PR and fan service. Which is why they have gotten such a bad "brand" rep globally...cuz they do absolutely nothing to conteract all the bad press.

I mean, you figure Yao would at least have already had his own site up run by his management team. Instead, it takes some lone superfan, John, to come up with one completely on his own. And with absolutely no acknowledgement or support from Yao's management team.

I have been out of town for the last week, and I am very sad to read that you may be leaving this site for good.

Like many of your readers here, I have been reading and visiting this site since the very beginning. In fact, I looked forward to reading your updates of the games in my office and it was one of the must-do's for me no matter how busy I was. And I have been really amazed at how much enthusiasm and energy you have in getting the updates to your readers. I really appreciate for all the time and efforts you have put in and I wish you all the best.

Hopefully, Yao and company would understand the importance of this great site and decide to do something to keep this going. There is no other better way for Yao's fans from all over the world to come and discuss his achievements.

I have been this site since you started it. Though I never wrote any comments, I have been visiting this site for detailed info a lot. I always marvel your ability to spend so much time to do such a wonderful job. I really appreciate you did and really hate you decide to fold.

I do hope you can blog every now and then to keep the site alive. The detailed analysis is not really necessary. Not sure how many people would read that much detail, especially after 6 years' of yao.

sad to hear it, but fully understandable. I've followed this site since the start, can't believe it has been 6,5 years already. Thank's also for you bothering to answer my mails directly!

This is the best, if not only, site for Yao fans, bare none. At least in English.

I can't believe that Team Yao don't understand the value of this site. On the otherside, it makes you independent and you can write anything without worrying to be censored by team Yao :)
